The committee and organisers would like to thank all those who attended and were so generous in their support of this enjoyable event. Thanks to your generosity and that of the many local businesses that donated so magnificently we raised in excess of £1300 for the Dormansland Branch. This excludes the Guide Dogs Stall which also had a record day.
Very many thanks to all involved.

Come to the Memorial Hall on Wednesday 21st July between 3 and 8.30pm to find out how
The Dormansland Road Action Campaign (DRAC) was set up in 2009 to persuade Surrey County Council to improve road safety in the village. Remember the postcards and posters? We made lots of noise and the Council listened. They have been out and looked at the case and agreed that proper crossing points in the centre of the village would be safer for pedestrians and slow traffic down. They came up with some options. That’s the good news!
However, the bad news is that recent cuts to Council budgets means that they really cannot fund this project. The only way for the village to get this done (and quickly) is for us to raise the money through local fundraising. The Council has offered to work with the village community to help us plan and develop the right solutions. We just need to find the money. They will help make it happen as quickly as possible.
This is an opportunity for the whole village to make a difference. If we are able to raise £20,000 this should enable us to do one crossing (more information on the options at the meeting on 21st!). More money will let us do more.
The Council met with the DRAC team on 21st June and put forward some possible ideas and explained other options. The ‘open afternoon’ on 21stJuly will allow the whole community to learn more and have a say. Come along whenever you can as follows :-
From 3-7pm Come along anytime. Find out more and give your ideas.
From 7-8.30pm A DRAC meeting with the Council to consolidate ideas and develop best options. All Welcome.
The DRAC team consists of a few residents who were passionate enough about the cause to drive this forward. We now need more members for the next stage. So if you want to get involved let us know on 21st. See you there!
