IS SEEKING TO APPOINT A PARISH CLERK & RESPONSIBLE FINANCE OFFICER
who is dedicated and highly organised. This pivotal role provides an opportunity to make a meaningful contribution to the well-being of the Dormansland community by managing its affairs, assets, and services with professionalism and care. The workload varies during the year and the candidate must have drive and determination with a positive ‘can do’ attitude.
The successful applicant will be responsible for administering and managing the Council’s activities. This includes attending and supporting the monthly evening Planning Committee and Full Council meetings that are held monthly, preparing agendas, recording minutes, and implementing Council decisions. The role also involves maintaining accurate financial records, preparing annual budgets, and managing end-of-year accounts, ensuring that all statutory and regulatory requirements are met.
Additionally, the Parish Clerk will manage the Council’s website and social media platforms and work closely with Councillors to plan and implement the Council’s strategic objectives.
The ideal candidate will be highly motivated, well-organised, and capable of working independently. They should possess strong administrative and financial management experience, excellent communication skills, and a proactive attitude. Proficiency in IT systems is essential, along with the ability to manage a varied workload efficiently. A qualification at A-Level or equivalent is required, and the successful candidate must be willing to undertake necessary training, there are opportunities for further advanced training.
The position requires flexibility to meet the demands of the role. The successful candidate will work from home for an average of 60 hours per month. The starting salary will be within the SCP 24-32 range (£34,314 – £37,938 pro rata), depending on qualifications and experience.
