Temporary changes to Covid-19 restrictions from 30 November
Following the recent emergence of a new Covid-19 variant, known as Omicron, the government has announced some temporary changes to Covid-19 restrictions.
The following restrictions will be in place from 30 November:
- Face coverings will be compulsory in shops and on public transport.
- Contacts of suspected Omicron cases will be required to self-isolate for 10 days, regardless of their vaccination status. They will be contacted by NHS Test and Trace.
- From 4am on 30 November, any international travellers entering the UK will need to self-isolate and take a PCR test within 48 hours of arrival. They will need to continue self-isolating until they receive a negative test result. This does not apply to people travelling within the UK.
- Pupils, staff and visitors at secondary schools are strongly advised to wear face coverings in communal areas.
These temporary measures will be reviewed on 17 December.
